Dreaming big
As the year comes to an end, I always like to sit down and visualise what I want for the coming year. I’m not too shy when it comes to asking the universe for what I want and then going after it. Nothing is off the limit when planning, visualising and setting my goals. As well as picturing all that I long for in my mind, I find using affirmations extremely helpful in helping me achieve the things I want. My husband and I also work together on goal plans for our little family. It is something we have done ever since we decided that we wanted to start a family some 10 years ago. Sometimes our goals span over a longer period, like 5 years, but more often than not our plan is for the year ahead of us. I know this may sound cliche, but every single time we have made ourselves a firm plan, what we have asked for has come true, not without hard work and dedication of course, but making a plan can be so powerful.
Two years ago, I hosted my first vision board workshop for a bunch of business women in my area. The workshop was so much fun and we all thoroughly enjoyed planning for the year ahead, by dreaming big and cutting and pasting all the wonderful things we felt we deserved and wanted to bring into our life for 2019. At the end of that year, my kids and I sat down and made vision boards for 2020. Our children mimic what we do and what we say and having visions and dreaming big are certainly no exception. In the midst of all the cutting, pasting, fun and frolics, we felt excited for the year ahead. Little did we know what was lurking around the corner and what a challenging year 2020 would turn out to be. Despite a very bumpy year with lots of homeschooling, lockdowns and limited access to travel and outings, 2020 has had its silver linings and we have still managed to achieve most of the goals on our boards this year. We have been blessed with lots of family time, love, laughter, swimming, lots of studying, for the children and I, adventures, sleep, exercise and travel, once pre-Corona Virus to beautiful Cape Verde and once to check in on my parents in Sweden during October half term.
Noone knows what the future holds, but now is the time to plan ahead for 2021, to dream big and to take charge of the things we can control, like our happiness, our health and wellbeing, our place of work, our home life or whatever else it may be. I’m not sure about you, but I am thoroughly excited to get my hands on a new planner for 2021, to start writing my annual plan and to make my 2021 vision board to share with my mentor next month. Despite so much darkness all around, we still have the power to control many things in life. Keep shining like the star you are and never ever let someone tell you you cannot do something. You will only prove them wrong.
